Sound familiar? You spend all day writing content for your client, and you know you need to get something else lined up but after you get your draft done, your brain is wiped. Or you can convince and convert leads for your client but when it comes to talking up your own skills, you clam up.
I get it.
A lot of writers have this block when it comes to writing about themselves or promoting their services. It’s not modesty or shyness, per se. It’s a mismatch between our comfort zones as writers and the need to self-promote. Or between our introvert nature and the extrovert demands of pitching clients.
A lot of freelance writers fall into this gap of knowing they need to market more but not knowing what steps to take — or just not feeling comfortable with the process.
The unfortunate reality is that writers who are mediocre with writing but have marketing on point often get gigs and exposure that high-quality writers should get, but they’re not marketing — so they just don’t get there.
In today’s world you have to market if you want to find success.
I’m super excited to share my first-ever video series with you guys. It brings together a lot of the work I’ve been doing in 2017. I’ve had to push myself out of my comfort zone and learn how to talk about what I do and why I do it and why it matters — all core marketing concepts.
If you struggle to pitch clients …
If you’re always applying for blogging gigs, but don’t hear back from editors …
If you feel like you’re underearning and stuck in a rut, but don’t know how to get to that next level…
Or if you know you plain suck at marketing and it’s holding you back from achieving a goal….
You need this.
Good news, it’s FREE!
For January, at least.
We’re building a simple, no-nonsense marketing action plan right here. All the videos are brief, practical, and actionable. They are designed to get you from where you are now to a place where you feel crystal clear on your marketing message and your audience and you’re taking steps to grow your brand and push your income to the next level — or whatever success looks like for you. Maybe you want to self publish your book in 2018 and you know you need a marketing plan.
In week one, we’re going to really dig into your audience and talk about how to find out who is in your audience so you can target them effectively.
In week two we’re going to pivot to YOU, brilliant writers, and talk about what your core message is — what do you have to offer your audience that is unique to you and tailor-made to fill a need they have?
In week three, we’re going to start building momentum so you can connect your message to your tribe and generate some heat. This is often where it gets tricky because it can take a while to see results.
This isn’t an overnight success kind of thing, but we’re going to simplify it and get an action plan and if you keep at it consistently and with an open mind, refining your approach, you’ll start to get there.
In week four, we’re going to bring it home with a discussion of how you can build lasting relationships with your audience and start earning from your expertise, whether it’s through booking clients or selling products.
Come and join me on this journey into marketing for writers and how you can market your skills while feeling comfortable and confident and authentically you.
Week one starts now. Grab your worksheet and get ready.
